Which banks give a collateral-free education loan for an MS abroad?

Short answer
Several do, but only some publish the list of universities that qualify. State Bank of India publishes an annexure of 100 select global institutions under its Global Ed-Vantage scheme, whose students can borrow up to ₹50 lakh without collateral — the list was published on 5 January 2026. Most other Indian lenders operate internal "prime university" lists they do not publish, so there is nothing public to verify for them. Absence from a published list is not a rejection; it usually means the unsecured route is not automatic.
What the list actually governs
Not whether you get a loan — what terms you get. For most families the real question is whether the house has to be mortgaged, and that is what these lists decide. A collateral-free sanction and a secured loan against property are different products with different rates and very different consequences if the job market disappoints.
Being on a list is a starting point, not a sanction. Every lender still assesses your co-applicant's income, your credit history, the amount requested and the specific course.
Why we only cover some lenders
Because we only include lists a lender publishes itself, with a source document and a date we can link to. Several banks' 'approved lists' circulate widely on consultant and loan-aggregator websites, but those are unverifiable second-hand copies, sometimes years out of date, and often published by sites that earn a referral fee on the loan. We would rather show one list we can prove than five we cannot.
