Honest answer
When do Fall 2027 MS applications close?
Numbers last checked: 2026-09-03
Short answer
Most US programmes opened between September and October 2026. Priority and round-one deadlines cluster in December 2026 and January 2027, with standard deadlines running from 1 January to around mid-February 2027. Scholarship deadlines come earlier than admission deadlines and are the ones people miss: Chevening closes 6 October 2026 and Commonwealth Master's on 20 October 2026. Treat every date here as indicative - the only binding date is on the programme's own page.
The order things actually need to happen in
Tests before applications, because scores take time to report and retakes need a gap. Recommenders before deadlines, because they are the one input you do not control. Scholarship applications before admission applications, because they close first and several require you to have already applied.
The common failure is not missing a deadline. It is arriving at December with a shortlist assembled from rankings, no sense of what any of it costs, and no time left to reconsider.
What to settle before you write anything
Total cost and payback for each programme on your list. Across our fully-sourced set the spread is wide enough that two programmes with similar reputations can differ by tens of lakhs - the cheapest US option we track is Arizona State University at about ₹14.3 lakh, against others past a crore.
Decide the money question first, because it is the one that is reversible now and irreversible in March.
