Why we won't name figures or firms

Two reasons. We have no sourced fee data, and publishing a plausible-sounding range would break the one rule this project does not bend: every figure carries a source and a check date, or it is marked an assumption. And naming specific consultancies alongside alleged commission amounts is a legal exposure we have deliberately chosen not to take. We make category-level statements about how the industry is paid, never claims about named parties.

Commission-based placement funding is a widely acknowledged feature of international student recruitment generally. What any individual firm receives, from whom, is between you and them — which is why the question belongs in your first meeting.

What to ask before paying anything

Do you receive payment from universities for placing students, and from which ones on my shortlist? What exactly does your fee cover, and what is excluded? What is your refund policy if I am not admitted anywhere? Will you show me the source for every cost and salary figure you have quoted?

Compare whatever they quote against what the work costs you in time to do yourself. Application forms and essays are effort, not expertise; the paid service is convenience plus judgement, and only one of those is hard to replace.
